Today, 8th April, is the second National Workplace Wellbeing Day, an initiative to help improve employee health through promoting better nutrition and physical activity. Here in DHR, healthy eating and exercise are a central part of our office life.
The company actively encourages cycling to work (and meetings) and supports this through an enhanced company bike scheme. We also get a weekly fruit bowl from the wonderful Jack Roche’s on Meath Street, which is always a big hit!
A few months back, our Account Managers Emily and Sebastian attended a breakfast briefing on ‘Mindfulness for Business’ which was organised by Irish Times Training. Emily wrote a blog post sharing her thoughts on the session. We’re hoping to host our own mindfulness session soon with a little help from YouTube.
For last year’s National Workplace Wellbeing Day, we introduced deskercise to the office. However, we must admit that we’ve been inconsistent in our uptake so we’re relaunching our deskercise initiative today. We are also planning to make the lunchtime mile a regular feature in our calendar and hoping the weather cooperates!
It’s not just at work that DHR staff are health conscious. Lots of our team are keen runners, cyclists and gym goers. Our MD Catherine runs a marathon every year and this weekend Emily is taking part in the 2016 KTC Duathlon Race in Kilkenny. Good luck, Emily!
