Since the establishment of DHR Communications in 2004, one of our major clients has been the Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA), the Government agency charged with delivering The Digital Hub enterprise and regeneration project in Dublin’s south-west inner city.
We provide on-going support to the Agency, encompassing public affairs, PR and event management services. In addition, DHR Communications manages The Digital Hub’s award-winning consultation process, the Community Public Private Partnership (CPPP), which involves consultation with all stakeholders in the project.
DHR Communications also works with the DHDA on an ongoing basis on the planning, development and project management of numerous media events, including the Irish final of the Dare To Be Digital video game development competition and the Future Creator showcase for student app developers (see photos below). In addition, we promote the outcomes of the Hub’s extensive learning programme, as well as organising public affairs events, such as visits by Government Ministers and the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources to The Digital Hub.
A number of different organisations have a ‘stake’ in the work of The Digital Hub. These include: The Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources; Enterprise Ireland; Dublin City Council; local residents’ associations, community groups and businesses; local education-providers, and digital media companies based in The Digital Hub. To deliver successful PR and public affairs services to the DHDA, it is necessary for DHR Communications to consult with all of these various stakeholders in a cohesive manner on an on-going basis to identify their needs and advise the DHDA on how best to meet them. We also provide strategic advice on how best to communicate key messages to different stakeholders and keep all target audiences informed of The Digital Hub’s work.
Some of the outcomes of this process have included the development of a quarterly ‘Hub News’ newsletter; updating relevant stakeholders and locals in the area with important information instantly through maintaining an extensive contacts database; and contributing to the positive media profile of the DHDA.As a result of this stakeholder engagement work, the DHDA enjoys the unwavering support of the local community; tenant companies, and all key stakeholders.
Because it is a Government agency – and, as such, is accountable to the public – we also work with the DHDA to ensure it keeps all relevant politicians and policymaking forums informed of its activities, and operates at all times in an open and transparent manner. Activities we undertake in this regard include Facilitating high-level relationships between senior personnel in the DHDA, the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources and senior officials in the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources. We are responsible for managing the DHDA annual report, while also keeping the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources informed of its activities
