DHR Communications was delighted to be working with the Digital Hub Development Agency on the visit of the Mexican Ambassador to Ireland, HE Carlos Garcia De Alba, to Dublin’s South West Inner City, recently. The purpose of the Ambassador’s visit – which included the Digital Hub, the National College of Art and Design and the Guinness Storehouse – is to assess what lessons can be derived from the Digital Hub – and surrounding area – for a similar regeneration and digitally-focused project which is about to commence in Guadalajara, Mexico. The visit was co-ordinated by Dublin City Council.
During his 90-minute tour of the Digital Hub,Ambassador Garcia De Alba met with some companies who are doing business with Mexican counterparts. The visit concluded with a lunch meeting with Dublin City Council, as well as officials from the Digital Hub Development Agency and NCAD at the Guinness Storehouse.
Ambassador Garcia De Alba said: “The impact which The Digital Hub has had in Dublin’s South West Inner City is of great interest to the Ciutad Creativa Digital in Guadalajara. The remit of both projects is very similar and because the Mexican project is in its infancy, there is enormous potential for us to learn from the experience of The Digital Hub.
“What is impressive about the Hub is how it has linked up with all of the educational intuitions in the area to promote digital learning and skill. Meanwhile, it has acted as a hotbed for many of Ireland’s biggest indigenous digital media players. The impact which it has had on the maintenance of the streetscape and historic buildings is also very striking.
