Joanne Ahern
Director
Joanne Ahern is an experienced communications professional, working for more than 20 years in the fields of media and public relations. A director at DHR Communications, she plays a key role in ensuring quality service delivery to a wide range of clients.
Her work involves devising and overseeing the implementation of successful media and social media campaigns and media events, as well as performing communications audits, developing communications strategies and communications plans, delivering training, and offering strategic advice. Joanne is also an experienced project manager, having honed her project management skills on client projects big and small over the past five years at DHR and in previous roles.
A newsroom veteran, Joanne has a strong understanding and intricate knowledge of the Irish media landscape as a result of a 15-year career in a number of local and national print, broadcast and online newsrooms. Prior to working at DHR Communications, Joanne was the deputy editor and news editor of daily commuter newspaper, Metro Herald and Dublin local weekly, the Tallaght Echo. She also worked as a broadcast journalist at Newstalk and as an online and broadcast journalist with RTÉ News.
Joanne holds an MA in Journalism from NUI Galway, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations from the European Institute of Communications, and a BA in English and History from University College Cork. She also holds a PRINCE2 project management qualification.
Joanne is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland and of the National Union of Journalists.
