Music college BIMM to host first ever ‘Accelerated Application Day’ for students
BIMM Institute Dublin, part of the BIMM (British and Irish Modern Music) Group, Europe’s leading provider of modern music education, will host an ‘Accelerated Application Day’ on Wednesday, 24th August from 1pm to 5pm at its Francis Street premises in Dublin 8. This application day is a unique opportunity for students to present their portfolios and audition for a place on a course starting this September.
Speaking ahead of the Accelerated Application Day, Alan Cullivan, College Principal at BIMM Institute Dublin said: ‘‘BIMM Dublin is already making a huge impact on the music scene, with our current crop of students and recent graduates emerging as successful musicians and producers. Our teaching and tutorial staff are all industry professionals too – we are therefore connected directly into the music industry.’’
“There are always options for continuing in education and following your passion – this application day is an opportunity for those who are interested in pursuing a career in music and the creative industries, to secure a course place for the 2016/ 2017 academic year.”
“This is the first time BIMM Dublin has organised this opportunity for prospective students, who will find out on the same day whether they have a place on a course in September. We are very excited to meet potential new students on the day and our BIMM staff, tutors and current students look forward to speaking to them about life at BIMM Dublin.’’
The Accelerated Application Day will include:
- a presentation about all aspects of life at BIMM Institute Dublin and a performance from current students;
- a Music Production workshop;
- a music industry panel where performance tutors will give advice on studying at BIMM and the music industry.
Performance auditions and Music Production portfolio assessments will take place later in the afternoon, when students will find out directly if they have a place on their chosen course.
The day is specifically geared towards applicants who are interested in the one year, part-time CPD Diploma in Professional Musicianship and the three year, full-time BA (Hons) Music Production, starting in September 2016, accredited by Dublin Institute of Technology and the University of West London, respectively.
Students are required to audition for the Diploma course and to provide a portfolio for the Music Production Degree. Applicants for the Diploma course should have completed at least one Leaving Cert subject or a FETAC/QQI Level 5 equivalent. Applicants for Music Production should have 2 Higher Level C3s and 4 Ordinary Level D3s, including Maths and English.
