Dermot Ryan

Dermot is a founding Director of DHR Communications and has a strong background in public affairs, having served in communications roles in the political and not-for-profit sectors.

At DHR Communications, he oversees Consultation Management projects and shares responsibility for leading our work in Public Affairs.

He offers strategic advice to community and voluntary organisations on how public bodies operate and can be influenced. He also assists clients to achieve greater transparency and compliance through effective management structures at board and committee levels.

Prior to establishing DHR Communications, Dermot was Public Affairs and Communications Manager with Magahy & Co. (now MCO Projects). During his time with Magahy, he worked on a number of public and private sector projects, including the Mater and Children’s Hospital Development, where he managed communications and consultation for the project. The project involves the rebuilding of key parts of Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin’s north inner city.

He also worked as Communications Officer with Adi Roche’s Chernobyl Children’s Project. In this position, he managed a major international exhibition at the United Nations in New York to mark the 15th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. Previously, he was employed as a Political Assistant with the Labour Party.

Dermot studied Politics and Social Policy at University College Dublin and has undertaken additional studies in Office Management Systems at HSI, Limerick.
